I can listen to the Beatles all day, I like a few Wings songs, but Paul McCartney was never someone I felt like I needed to see in concert. I remember watching the tribute concert after 9/11 and cringing when he sang that “Freedom” song, admittedly I was fairly inebriated as I had been drinking all day at “The Hunt”, but I looked it up on youtube tonight, and yup, still a cringe inducingly shitty song. That had been my history with seeing Paul McCartney in concert, not something I felt like I ever needed to do. Through some “lattice of coincidence” this past year, McCartney’s name had entered my consciousness, and at least two people had sworn to me that it was the best concert they had ever seen… which was strange only because one of them was a deaf mute, and the other was robbing my apartment. Regardless, I decided that if I ever had the chance to see him I would give it a shot.
